Site FerroviaireRead more
For a long time, this site was dedicated to train maintenance, especially axletrees.
It left a quite a mark on many railway workers. It is closed off to the surrounding city by a group of embankments and natural slopes that make it invisible, despite its gigantic surface.
The buildings and halls, ranging from 500 to 18,500 square meters, occupy the site in a purely functional manner. The master plan aims to identify new programs capable of investing in an exceptional site and to see how neighboring districts can “overflow” onto this site so as to invest in the housing, gardens, services, and equipments.
With priority given to “green” transport modes, the site is accessible by motorized vehicles via two entrances that are arranged as circle, necessary for access and security. Stores, hotels, and business incubators fit into the sites’ scale, gently or strikingly, in the immense buildings just waiting to be brought back to a human scale.
